Our History
In 1991, the Ruling Elders of Church
of the Great Commission (CGC) met at the Greenbelt Marriott Hotel,
Greenbelt, Maryland for an Elder's planning retreat. After much prayer, and
through the leading of the Holy Spirit, the Elders affirmed that God had
given the church an evangelistic and discipleship vision that encompassed
the entire world. Further, the Elders affirmed that God had given Pastor
David T. P. Perrin a heart and a message for the nations.
These two great affirmations gave birth to Great Commission Global
Ministries (GCGM). The following year, 1992, Church of the Great
Commission affirmed the call of God upon Pastor Perrin's life by
setting him apart to formally organize GCGM. Then between 1993 and
1998, the vision laid dormant as Bishop Perrin and the ministry
walked through the illness and home going of Elizabeth A. Perrin,
Bishop Perrin's first wife.
In March of 2000, GCGM was incorporated as a ministry in the State
of Maryland.
In June of 2000, a consecration service was held to formally set
aside GCGM as a ministry. The mission of the
ministry is “to equip, network, and mobilize all people, but
especially Blacks, for ministry to the world”.
It is the vision of GCGM to develop global partnerships that will
enable people to participate in missions through their natural
abilities, skills, talents and spiritual gifts,
and to do so through their existing ministry affiliations.
In July of 2002, the ministry relocated
from
Mitchellville, MD to West Palm Beach,
Florida. In September of 2002, at Kingdom Covenant Church in
District Heights, MD, GCGM held its first ordination service
— setting apart six ministers for ministry to the world.
Partnership in
Great Commission Global Ministries is open to individuals, ministers,
churches, para-church ministries and networks of churches.
